Why cheek enhancement?

Cheeks are an important feature of the mid-face and tend to droop and flatten with age. This leads to the formation of jowls (the sag around the chin area), and nasolabial lines/folds (the lines from the corners of the nose to the corners of the mouth). Decreased cheek volume can make the face appear flattened and lack
the natural youthful curves provided by fuller cheeks. Thus replacing volume with dermal fillers in an important area like the cheeks, results in making the skin look rejuvenated and younger. High cheeks are a sign of youthfulness and give the face a fresh look.

Triangle of Youth

One of the advantages of treating the cheeks is that it lifts the entire face and reduces nasolabial lines and jowls. In youth, the cheekbones are high and well-defined, while the jaw line is well-defined, yet soft. A youthful face resembles the shape of an upside-down triangle, a line through the eyes forming a base, and the chin forming the point of the triangle. This is called the 'triangle of youth' and this is what we desire to achieve.

Treatment

For those who do not want a permanent change and the option of adjustability, there are inject-able/non-surgical options. Just by erasing wrinkles and fine lines; there may not be as much change to the youthfulness of the face as adding volume. For this purpose, various dermal fillers can be injected into the cheeks. This is personally supervised by Dr Geeta Oberoi as the amount of dermal filler required varies from person to person, depending on the amount of volume loss and the degree of enhancement desired. Ideal filler for this area would be Voluma by Allergen; its results are soft and helps restore the triangle of youth.

Generally, the tear troughs should be treated simultaneously with the cheeks, to ensure a smooth transition from this area into the cheeks.
